Overview

The Infection Prevention and Control Program of Bay River College have received accreditation from the Canadian Nurses Association for Professional Development and Nursing Clinical Specialization of 100 credit hours towards RNs, RPNs and LPNs in Canada and abroad. “The CNA Accreditation Program upholds standards of quality for continuing professional development for nurses in Canada.” Bay River College has been acknowledged for its rigorous quality assessment.

This 16-week program is designed for NURSES choosing to specialize in infection and prevention control area. The ultimate learning goals for this course are to increase student’s theoretical knowledge and to establish practical skills to prevent infections and diseases and solve real healthcare problems. The curriculum is based on research, standards of practice and unique skills sets.

“Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners (ICP) are professionals who have dedicated their careers to preventing the spread of infections in health care settings.

ICPs are employed as a part of an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) teams in a variety of settings including Hospitals, Long Term Care Facilities, Public Health authorities, various ministries, and consulting companies. Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners from a variety of backgrounds – many have training as nurses, epidemiologists, public health professionals, microbiologists, lab technicians, or physicians. One of the important achievements in a career of Infection Prevention and Control Practitioners is the CIC certification, achieved through the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology.

Admission

Admission Requirements:

  • Government issued Picture ID (For Canadian) or copy of valid Passport (for International Students).
  • Educational Credentials (for RN’s, RPN’s LPN’s in Canada and all internationally trained nurses).
