The Bay River College Pharmacy Assistant Program covers diverse topics required to successfully work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including basic pharmacology, drug and medical terminology and best practices. Students in this program will also be well versed in ethics and personal safety.
The Pharmacy Assistant Program prepares students for a challenging and rewarding career assisting licensed pharmacists in the operations of running a pharmacy. Students will acquire the necessary skills required to fill orders, manage client information, prepare and process paperwork, identify breakdowns for prescriptions as well as train with leading pharmaceutical computer software. Students will also learn how to effectively manage inventory and handle a number of administrative duties involved in this rewarding career.
Graduates of the Pharmacy Assistant Program can look forward to career opportunities in a number of related fields, including; retail pharmacies (privately owned or as part of a chain), health care facilities, industrial pharmacies, pharmaceutical laboratories, clinics, mail-order / online pharmacies, pharmaceutical wholesalers and the federal government.
