Program Summary

The Bay River College Pharmacy Assistant Program covers diverse topics required to successfully work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, including basic pharmacology, drug and medical terminology and best practices. Students in this program will also be well versed in ethics and personal safety.

The Pharmacy Assistant Program prepares students for a challenging and rewarding career assisting licensed pharmacists in the operations of running a pharmacy. Students will acquire the necessary skills required to fill orders, manage client information, prepare and process paperwork, identify breakdowns for prescriptions as well as train with leading pharmaceutical computer software. Students will also learn how to effectively manage inventory and handle a number of administrative duties involved in this rewarding career.

Pharmacy Assistant students complete their education with 200 hours of practicum experience

It includes Health Care facilities, Industrial Pharmacies & Pharmaceutical Laboratories as well as jobs in Community Pharmacy and a small proportion was in mail-order and internet pharmacies, clinics, pharmaceutical wholesalers, & the federal Government. They can also find job opportunities as instructors & researchers at educational institutions.
