Smrt English (ESL)

Program Summary

Bay River College is offering a Smrt English language course program. This program is initiated to help the students in improving their English language skills for professional and educational environments. 

There will be numerous opportunities to work on your communicational and understanding skills. Moreover, you will get competent at reading, writing, listening and of course, speaking. After successfully graduating with this 6-month program, aspiring candidates will have a strong command of English and will be able to clearly express themselves. The Smrt English language program is an online course. 

Smrt English (ESL)

English Levels

In this program, students will work on 6 core levels of curriculum that span proficiency levels from beginner to advanced. These levels are equivalent to IELTS and TOEFL benchmarks and are acceptable in many universities and institutions.

Beginner Level

The beginner level has a maximum score of 110 and is an orientation to prepare you for the higher levels. You will also become familiar with some basic computer commands, grammar and will work on your reading and writing skills. 

As the course progresses, you will face difficult and more challenging modules that will engage directly with your language skills and will develop them. 

Lower Intermediate Level

The lower intermediate level works on the verbal and reading skills and is equivalent to an IELTS score of 3.0-3.5. You will also learn more advanced programming commands that will familiarize you with the use of technology. 

Intermediate Level

Intermediate levels are equal to IELTS 4.0-4.5 or TOEFL 32-41. This module will refine and hone the language skills that will allow you to hold your own in any social situation or interactive environment. 

Upper Intermediate Level

The upper intermediate level will be an astounding increment in your personal and intercommunication skills and will allow you to explicitly express yourself in any situation. You will also learn to interpret and interact with various cultural differences in real-world environments. 

Advanced Level

The advanced levels are equivalent to IELTS score 5.5-6 and TOEFL 60-78. This is the level that will excel your language skills beyond the ordinary. You will be experimenting with complex grammatical structures, critical thinking and an array of linguistic skills.

This module will prepare you to gain entry into educational institutions and will work on thesis statements, different essay styles, cause and effect, comparison and contrast and various other important academic skills.
