Program Summary

The Unit Clerk and Medical Office Administration Program is designed to provide students with the business, technology and communication skills required to fulfill a fundamental role in a number of healthcare environments.

The Unit Clerk and Medical Office Administrator Program prepares students to work with healthcare-related software and applications use to schedule patient appointments, prepare reports, invoices, financial statements and medical records. Students will learn to complete insurance forms, submit billing to Alberta Health Services, process payments, interview patients, complete intake forms and a number of other administrative duties

Our comprehensive program places an emphasis on understanding medical terminology, medical transcription and medical office procedures. Upon completion of the program, students will be able to conduct medical histories, explain treatment procedures and prepare patients for examinations.

CO-OP

Medical Office Administration students complete their education with 200 hours of practicum experience.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Expect to find employment in a variety of settings including; private medical clinics,

Community Health Units, hospital departments such as Admissions, Out- Patient Clinics, Emergency, Radiology, or as a ward clerk or surgical Booking clerk. You’ll also be fully qualified to work in nursing homes, palliative care facilities, senior citizens’ residences and medical transcription departments / facilities.
